What is a Water Taxi?

If you’ve never been to Lobos before, the concept of a Water Taxi may sound Greek to you. However, Taxi Boats are a very popular transport in Fuerteventura. These zodiacs are smaller than a ferry and can bring up to 12 people.

The two greatest advantages of taking a water taxi instead of the ferry are:

  1. You get to Lobos quicker: in only 10 minutes you can go from Corralejo to Lobos (and vice versa).
  2. The timetables are flexible: Water Taxis are available every half an hour, while the ferry only goes to Lobos every hour (even every two hours depending on the time of the year).

The timetables of these boats are totally flexible. The usual frequency is every half an hour, but if there are enough people, you won’t have to wait a minute! Since it’s faster than a normal boat, you can be the first person to arrive on the island and enjoy the beauty of the place.

Is it better to take a Water Taxi or the Ferry to visit Lobos?

If you still have doubts about how to get to Lobos, these are the main differences:

  • Speed: the journey takes 10 minutes on a water taxi while it’s 20 minutes by ferry.
  • Timetables: Water Taxis offer more availability, so they are more flexible.
  • Capacity: these boats can bring up to 12 people. If you are travelling in a big group, it’s better to take the ferry or to book two water taxis.
  • Movement: the waves are not so noticeable when you take the ferry as it is more stable than the water taxi.
  • Meeting point: both leave from Puerto de Corralejo in the north of Fuerteventura.
  • Price: prices are similar.
