6 days Itinerary in Lanzarote: what to do and see
This is a detailed itinerary with a selection of some of the best places included in our Travel Guide about what to see in Lanzarote. For sure, you may customise your itinerary depending on your interests!
Day 1: A day to visit the north of Lanzarote
Your 6-day itinerary on the island starts off visiting all the beauties in the north:
Jameos del Agua
Your first stop is Los Jameos del Agua, which is a masterpiece created by the greatest local artist Cesar Manrique. They belong to a lava tunnel which goes from La Corona Volcano to the sea. Altogether, there are three holes that connect with the outside world.
The inside natural world is worth visiting! Keep your eyes open on your way down and discover the tiny blind white crabs that live in the cave waters: they are unique in the world! There is also a restaurant and an impressive auditorium.

Cueva de los Verdes
You’ll find Cueva de los Verdes just a few minutes away. It also belongs to the previous lava tunnel but this time, your visit is completely different. What impresses visitors the most is the variety of colours and shapes of the solid lava.
At the end of the visit, you’ll get a big surprise: the Big Secret of La Cueva de los Verdes. Remember that it’s a secret!

Mirador del Rio
Your next stop is this breathtaking viewpoint which was also designed by the local artist Manrique. Enjoy its wonderful views over a whole archipelago consisting of the island of La Graciosa and four islets: Montaña Clara, Alegranza, Roque del Este and Roque del Oeste.
Near Mirador del Rio there is also a restaurant where to relax while enjoying the views.

Villa de Teguise
Let’s get to Teguise, the most beautiful city in Lanzarote and the old capital of the island. Walk around the Old Quarter and stop by Guadalupe’s Church, the Ermita de la Vera Cruz (an old chapel) and the Museum of Timple Canario (a traditional Canarian 5-string instrument).
Finally, get to visit Santa Bárbara Castle, which holds a Pirate Museum and where the views are just spectacular. If you visit Teguise on a Sunday, don’t miss the largest local market in the Canary Islands.

Famara
Your last stop today is the village of Caleta de Famara, a very famous area for surf lovers. You’ll be impressed by the cliffs of Famara while walking along its streets and its volcanic sand beach.
It’s an ideal place for sunset, as you are surrounded by mountains that will take different red and orange colours. Just enjoy yourselves!

Day 2: Timanfaya and the centre of the island
Timanfaya National Park
Day 2 begins with the greatest attraction in Lanzarote: Timanfaya National Park and Montañas del Fuego (an impressive volcanic landscape created after the eruptions). There are some organised routes available in the National Park:
- Islote de Hilario: an area where geysers are still active.
- Bus Route around the Volcanoes and Montañas del Fuego.
- El Diablo Restaurant, where food is made thanks to the heat of the ground.
The meeting point for these tours is at Islote de Hilario, where there is a parking area where you can leave your car.

Want to have some more fun? There are two other places to visit if you are renting a car:
- Visitor Centre of Mancha Blanca: the ideal place to discover the origin of the volcanic cones in Lanzarote.
- Echadero de los Camellos, where you can go on a camel ride surrounded by volcanoes! There is also a small museum about dromedaries.
La Geria
Drive towards La Geria on road LZ-30 and enjoy the amazing volcanic landscape. The vineyards and their cultivation method in La Geria are unique in the world.
If you are a wine lover, it’s worth visiting any of the wineries in the area: Bodega de La Geria, El Grifo, Rubicon or Vega Yuco (guided tour). They offer local wine tasting!

Charco de los Clicos and El Golfo
Your next stop is Charco de los Clicos, a green lagoon located inside the crater of a volcano within Timanfaya. Have a look at its special colour from the viewpoint here!
What’s more, this place is very close to a fishermen’s town called El Golfo, where you can walk or eat fresh fish by the seaside.

Los Hervideros Cliffs
Stop by Los Hervideros Cliffs, where waves hit the rocks heavily, creating a marvellous visual effect and a roaring sound that will catch your complete attention. The rougher the sea is, the more spectacular it will be. Keep your eyes and ears open!

Salinas del Janubio (salt pans)
Discover all the manufacturing processes of one of the last active salt pans in the Canary Islands. Go on a guided tour and, as a special souvenir, you can buy some local salt.
Hiking Route to Cuervo Volcano or to Caldera Colorada
Your final activity for the day is an easy hiking route. Choose between the two most popular in the island: the route to the crater of Cuervo Volcano or the route around Caldera Colorada. Both belong to the Volcanoes Natural Park, they are easy treks and their starting points are very close to one another. If you’ve got plenty of energy, you can also do both on the same day.

Day 3: Papagayo and Playa Blanca
After two days visiting the most popular attractions, let’s drive south and have a relaxing day on one of the best beaches in Lanzarote. You may organise your day as follows:
In the morning, you can go directly to Punta de Papagayo, a coastal area full of small golden sand beaches with clear waters that are considered the most beautiful beaches in Lanzarote. Spend your morning on one or stop by some of them. Your holidays, your decision!
In the afternoon, drive towards the tourist village of Playa Blanca, where there are two other beaches called Playa Dorada and Flamingo. If you want to do something different, explore the Port of Marina Rubicon and walk along its seaside promenade or visit the Coloradas Castle or the Pechiguera Lighthouse.

Day 4: Caldera Blanca Volcano, Monumento al Campesino and Arrecife
Caldera Blanca Volcano and La Caldereta
Day 4 starts with a hiking route to visit two volcanic cones within the Volcanoes National Park: Caldera Blanca and La Caldereta. This route through lava paths will bring you to the craters of both volcanoes… Did you know that the diameter of Caldera Blanca is more than 1km long?
It’s an easy trek and it usually takes around 3 hours.
Monumento al Campesino
Your next stop is Monumento al Campesino, which is a monument that the local architect Cesar Manrique built as a tribute to all the farmers in Lanzarote. They overcame all kinds of hardships for centuries, especially after the Timanfaya eruptions.
The monument includes three different places to visit: the Sculpture of Fertility (Monumento a la Fecundidad), the Farmer’s House-Museum (Casa Museo del Campesino) where you can see its workshops and the Restaurant.
Los Dolores Church
Another special stop is this chapel, where you can visit the patron saint of Lanzarote, Virgen de los Dolores. Get to know a little bit more about the history of miracles during the last eruptions.
Arrecife
Spend your afternoon in the capital city of Lanzarote. In the heart of the city, you’ll find Charco de San Ginés, a busy place with restaurants along the promenade. You can also visit a beautiful castle (Castillo de San Gabriel), the main shopping street (Calle León y Castillo) or the Church of San Gines. Want to go for a swim? Reducto Beach will be perfect for that plan.

Day 5: Day Trip to La Graciosa
If you come to Lanzarote, you must visit La Graciosa. And… that’s your plan for today! Be ready to disconnect and relax on its marvellous golden sand beaches. There are two options: to go on your own or to book an all-inclusive day trip.

Day 6: a Beach Day or an Excursion Day?
For your last day, you have different options and activities to do:
