What to see in Lobos Island
These are the places you can’t miss during your visit to this islet:
Lobos Port
This is a little port where the ferry docks from Fuerteventura. There is a statue of the poet Josefina Pla, who was born here, and some sculptures of sea wolves. These animals lived here in the past and they are the reason why this islet is called ‘Lobos’, which means ‘wolves’ in Spanish.
Visitor’s Centre in Lobos
You can’t miss the Visitor’s Centre in Lobos either. This museum holds the history of the islet, its formation process and the flora and fauna that live in this Nature Park.

Puertito de Lobos Dock and Beach
This is a small dock and the area where the only restaurant on the island is located. Besides, there are some old houses where Portuguese workers used to live when they were building the lighthouse that is in the north of the island.
Its main attraction is the small white sand natural pool with volcanic rocks around. It’s a paradisiacal spot with calm turquoise waters where to go for a swim or enjoy a lovely beach day. Don’t forget your snorkelling equipment!

La Caldera Volcano
This is the highest point in Lobos: La Caldera Mountain, with 127 metres above sea level. It’s an old volcano and you can go hiking to the peak to enjoy the views over Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. It’s quite impressive!
Besides, it’s a curious place where you’ll watch different sea birds looking for the perfect spot to brood.

Punta Martiño Lighthouse
In the north of the islet, you’ll find the lighthouse Faro de Punta Martiño, which has been a guide for boats since 1865. The lighthouse keeper Antoñito el Farero was responsible for its maintenance. He was also the last inhabitant of the island. Don’t miss the views from the top!

Las Lagunitas Lagoons
Another place to visit in Lobos Islet is Las Lagunitas. These salty lagoons are a wonder for local flora and fauna. There you’ll see endemic species like ‘Siempreviva de Lobos’ (similar to a wavyleaf sea lavender) and migratory birds like grey herons and storks.

La Concha Beach
This is the main beach on Lobos Island with more than a kilometre long. Its white sand and clear waters invite you to sunbathe and go for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean. La Concha is also known as ‘La Caleta’ and it’s the perfect beach to go with children as its waters are calm.
The views over the dunes of Corralejo from here are breathtaking. Can’t miss it!
