2 Weeks Itinerary in Lanzarote
This is a detailed itinerary with a selection of some of the best places included in our Travel Guide about what to see and do in Lanzarote. Of course, you may customise your itinerary depending on your interests!
Day 1: North of Lanzarote
This 2-week itinerary in Lanzarote starts with the marvellous legacy of the local artist Cesar Manrique in the north of the island:
Jameos del Agua
Exploring this captivating subterranean lagoon is a must-do, as the brilliant creator Manrique has turned it into a captivating work of art accessible to all, allowing everyone to savor a slice of the natural world. Stay observant and embark on a quest to spot the small albino cave-dwelling crabs – these ‘jameitos’ are a truly one-of-a-kind marvel!
Cueva de los Verdes Cave
Get to know the story of this lava tunnel where local people used to hide from pirates and corsairs. Pay special attention to its walls, which show a wide gamut of colours as a result of different eruptions. At the end of the visit, there’s a big surprise for all visitors: the Big Secret of Cueva de los Verdes.
Mirador del Rio
From this breathtaking viewpoint, you’ll have wonderful views over an archipelago which consists of five small islands and islets: La Graciosa, Montaña Clara, Alegranza, Roque del Este and Roque del Oeste. There is also a restaurant where you can taste typical Canarian products while enjoying the views.
Haria
Visit the Valley of the Thousand PalmTrees where you can find Cesar Manrique’s House-Museum, which is the last place where he lived. Finally, stop by Valle de Malpaso Viewpoint, there is a shape of a witch waiting for you to be discovered… Maybe you’ll find it easier to find her at night!
Arrieta and Punta Mujeres Beaches
Your last stop for the day is the beach, so don’t forget your swimming clothes! In Arrieta and Punta Mujeres, you can either sunbathe or go for a swim in the sea or its natural pools. there are also some nice restaurants where to taste typical food right beside the beach. Another option is Los Caletones Beach.
Day 2: Itinerary to the centre of the island
Timanfaya National Park
Let’s start day 2 with the most popular attractions in Lanzarote: Timanfaya National Park and Montañas del Fuego (an impressive volcanic landscape created after the eruptions). These two are non-organised routes:
- Visitor Centre of Mancha Blanca: the perfect place to know the history of the volcanoes on the island.
- Echadero de los Camellos: go on a camel ride surrounded by volcanoes! There is also a small museum about dromedaries and camels.
In addition, there are some other organised routes in the National Park:
- Islote de Hilario: an area where geysers are still active.
- Bus Route around the Volcanoes and Montañas del Fuego.
- El Diablo Restaurant, where food is made thanks to the heat of the ground.
The meeting point for these tours is at Islote de Hilario, where there is a big parking area where you can leave your car.
Charco Los Clicos Lagoon
This is a green lagoon which is popular for its special colour and also for being located inside the crater of a volcano. Moreover, it’s very close to a fishermen’s town called El Golfo, where you can walk or eat fresh fish by the seaside.
Salinas del Janubio (salt pans)
Discover all the manufacturing processes of one of the last active salt pans in the Canary Islands.
Los Hervideros Cliffs
These cliffs are located in an amazing spot where waves hit the rocks heavily, creating a marvellous visual effect and a roaring sound that will catch your complete attention. The rougher the sea is, the more spectacular it will be.
Day 3: Exploring Puerto del Carmen
Spend this day relaxing on one of the wonderful beaches in Puerto del Carmen. You can either go to Playa Chica or Playa Grande and walk along the seaside promenades which are full of shops and restaurants.
Day 4: Caldera Blanca Volcano, Villa de Teguise and Famara
Caldera Blanca Volcano and La Caldereta
Day 3 starts with a hiking route to visit two volcanic cones within the Volcanoes National Park: Caldera Blanca and La Caldereta. This route through lava paths will bring you to the craters of both volcanoes… Did you know that the diameter of Caldera Blanca is more than 1km long?
It’s an easy route and it usually takes around 3 hours.
Villa de Teguise
How about driving now to the old capital and the most beautiful city in Lanzarote? Two of the main tourist attractions are the Old Quarter and Santa Bárbara Castle, which holds a Pirate Museum and where the views are amazing. Are you visiting Teguise on a Sunday? Don’t miss the largest local market in the Canary Islands with handcrafts and typical products.
Monumento al Campesino
The local architect Cesar Manrique built this monument as a tribute to all the farmers in Lanzarote, as they overcame all the hardships for long periods of time, especially after the Timanfaya eruptions.
This monument includes three different places to visit: the Sculpture of Fertility (Monumento a la Fecundidad), the Farmer’s House-Museum (Casa Museo del Campesino) where you can see its workshops and the Restaurant.
Los Dolores Church
The patron saint of Lanzarote, Virgen de los Dolores, is inside this beautiful tiny chapel. She’s considered the mother of the volcanoes, so get to know a little bit more about the history of miracles during the last eruptions.
Famara Village and Beach
Your last stop today is the village of Caleta de Famara, a very famous area for surfing. Walk along its streets and its volcanic sand beach. You’ll be astonished by the views over the island of La Graciosa and the cliffs nearby. If you want to go for a swim, be careful with the waves.
Days 5, 6 and 7: La Graciosa
Disconnect from the world in the Eighth Canary Island, which used to belong 100% to Lanzarote until 2018 when it was recognised as a separate island.

Day 8: Papagayo Beaches
Discover the wildest and most exotic area in the southern coast of Lanzarote with Papagayo Beaches. They are considered the best beaches in Lanzarote, and here you’ll explore all the small golden sand beaches with clear waters along Papagayo. You will not want to come back to your accommodation!
Day 9: Playa Blanca
Enjoy the most touristic area in Lanzarote: Playa Blanca. Here you can visit the Port of Marina Rubicon, the Coloradas Castle, visita Pechiguera Lighthouse, climb up a Red-Mountain Volcano or sunbathing in the beaches of Flamingo and Dorada.
Day 10: Excursion to Fuerteventura
On day 10 of this 14days itinerary around Lanzarote, you may go on an excursion to one of the closest islands and the one with best beaches on the Canary Islands: Fuerteventura.

Day 11: Exploring Costa Teguise
Enjoy a complete day in Costa Teguise, other of the most tourist places on the island. Here you may visit Pueblo Canario (a typical Canarian-style town designed by Cesar Manrique), the seaside promenade and have a bath in the different beaches such as El Jablillo or Las Cucharas.
Day 12: Cuervo Volcano, La Geria, Jose Saramago House and Arrecife
Cuervo Volcano and Caldera Colorada
Let’s start the day of the trip with two simple trekking routes:
- Cuervo Volcano: route to a volcanic cone where 1730 eruptions started. Approx duration: 2.5 hours.
- Caldera Colorada: route to a red-coloured mountain where you’ll see the largest volcanic bomb in the world. Approx duration: an hour.
La Geria
If you are a wine lover, you’ll love your next stop. The vineyards in La Geria are unique in the world, as this cultivation method is only carried out here. It’s worth visiting any of the most popular wineries: Bodega de La Geria, El Grifo or Rubicon. They offer guided tours and Malvasia wine tasting.
A Casa Jose Saramago
After tasting some wine from Lanzarote, Tias is waiting for you. Here you can visit Jose Saramago’s House (A Casa Jose Saramago), where he lived for more than twenty years. Did you know that he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature and wrote some of his novels here?
Arrecife
Your next stop is the capital city of Lanzarote. Here you’ll see some tourist sites:
- Charco de San Ginés, where there’s a port and nice restaurants along the promenade.
- Castillo de San Gabriel, where you can visit the castle and its beautiful bridge.
- Calle León y Castillo (the old main street), which is the main shopping street in the city.
There are some other beautiful attractions in Arrecife, but you’ll have to drive there. Some of them are San Jose Castle, the Reducto Beach and Telamon’s Ghost Ship.
Day 13: day trip to Lobos Island
